 Chapter 4: "Who Wears Sandals With Nike Pants?"
Shivering slightly, you walk over to the corner of the room to investigate the pile of clothes. You're not sure whether the goosebumps that are pricking up all down the back of your neck are more from the slight "breeze" that seems present in the drafty room, or from the general creepiness of being mostly naked in a grungey room with a crusty dead guy. Either way, it's unpleasant, so you devote as much brain power as will go to the pile of clothes. You lift up a dark red shirt and, with noticeable reluctance, sniff it. It doesn't smell like anything to you, besides the faint sea-stench. You throw it on over your undershirt, thankful to have it there to protect your body from the foreign shirt. You check the pants next. Dark blue Nike pants. You hesitate, thinking of the child laborers in Ubakistan that most likely created this, and of your vow never to buy Nike products. You giggle out loud as you pull on the pants and slip your feet into the perfectly sized sandals on the floor.
Turning back to the problems at hand, you realize that the trail of water must be drying up, as there are spots on the floor that look like there was once water where water no longer sits. It appears to have left a slimey looking residue. Carefully you step over the trail and move to the door. The doorknob has something wet on it, that has been dripping down the door. You sigh, take one last look at the corpse, and open the door. Stepping out, you realize you're in a long hall. The water trail leads down the hall to the left a bit, and then seems to widen and end abruptly. To the right, there is a trail of water that leads all the way to the window at the end of the hall.
You walk over to the window and peek out. You can barely see out, the window is so smudged and dusty. Plus it's dark outside. To your left, there is a dark stairwell that leads both up and down.
Head down the stairwell.
Open the window.
